Under Ummeed project for general awareness in non slum areas an Essay & Drawing competition was organized on 15th August 2010 at Vasant nagar and the prize distribution to the winners of the competitions was held on 22nd August 2010.

The objective of the programme is to aware people on solid waste management. During the competition introduction about Ummeed project was given to the children and their parents.  Though the children were not aware on solid waste management still they make good drawings about maintaining cleanliness at home and school. This shows that they do waste management at home. More awareness programmes should be taken in this area. Around 15 children participated in the competitions. Alongwith the children some parents were also present during the competitions and prize distribution programme.

Ms.Megha Sahare and Ms.Vandana Koche facilitate the children for competitions. Rev.S.Paranjyothy, Director, CNI-SSI and Mrs.Bharti Charan, Coordinator UMMEED presented the prizes to the winners of the competitions and also shared about the management of solid waste at home and how they can use the waste as fertilizer and it can be used for producing bio gas also
