CNI-SSI had conducted a meeting for the women's of Self Help Groups on 16th April 2007 to discuss about the Federation process. As CNI-SSI is working for the empowerment of women, we had 85 self-help groups of women in rural and urban slums. To step forward from a group towards a federation this meeting was called. From each group two representatives were invited for this meeting. From slum area the representatives from Ekta, Pragati,k Noori, Shama, Vaibhavlaxmi, Sujara, Swabhiman, Laxmi, Pragya and Disha self-help group were participated. Total 20 women were present for the meeting.

The meeting started with registration of participants. Shri Vijay Patil, Programme Organiser, CNI-SSI welcomed the participants and gave a brief introduction of the meeting. Shri Patil explained that formation of self help groups, functioning of group, bank linkage, small business of groups and working on social issues are not only the limited objectives of a group but it also think of a wider process of serving the society through a Federation. Later Rev.S.Paranjyothy, Director, CNI-SSI expressed his views, he explained that what success we get when an individuals work, when a group work and when so many groups works together.

 

Anti Child Labour Day was observed at Church of North India- Social Service Institute with the high participation of working children and the children who live on the streets of Nagpur city. It was inaugurated at the hands of the Guest of Honour of the occasion Rt.Rev.Paul Dupare, Bishop of Nagpur, & President, CNI-SSI.

Rev.S.Paranjyothy, the Director of CNI-SSI introduced this programme as an affirmation of the fight against the forces that rob the precious childhood of children. He said the Church and its mission is to liberate the children in crisis.

The working children performed a street play “Do not rob my childhood”. The play carried the message that children are at danger and in the hands of ruthless sick minded people in the society where? What is the answer?

Mr.Rajiv Thorat analysed the situation in India concerning the various forms of child labour and the ethical questions in poses. He appreciated the government of India’s recent stand to ban the child – labour in India.

Mr.Sudipto Singh brought greetings from the CNI and stated that Church can never tolerate the oppression of the children who carry the image of God. Rt.Rev.Paul Dupare, offered special prayers for the people and organization working for the children and blessed the child participants present on the occasion. Mrs.Aradhana Upadhyay conducted the proceedings and Mrs.Usha Niswade proposed the vote of thanks.

Candle Light procession.

A procession was lead by the CNI-SSI of the street children and child labourers with the candles, depicting the light of hope. With singing and slogans the procession was culminated at Variety Square making an oath to fight the evil against the childhood. Various ogranisations participated in the procession like Yuvajyoti, SHARANSTHAN, ISSUE & Childline.
